Social networking service as a vehicle to popularisation activity of archives and museums

Abstract


In XXI century interaction via the Internet has significant function. Information society provide citizens direct access to cultural heritage, which is available in data bases of archives and museums. Every institutions, which wants to engage and keep clients and users, should exist in the Internet. Making an account in a social networking service can be a part of public relations strategy. The main idea of this article is showing archives’ and museums’ accounts, which have been created on Facebook, the most popular social networking service in Poland. Creative way of using Facebook is excellent vehicle to popularisation activity of archives and museums. Author of the article discuss ways of using Facebook’s features, contents of archives’ and museums’ accounts and degree of theirs activity. The article include also information about spoils of having account in such social networking service for both institutions and their users.
