María Loreto Cantón Rodríguez is a full university lecturer at the University of Almería in the area of French philology and a PhD from the University of Granada with a thesis on the work of J.M.G. Her main lines of research are: French literature of the 20th and 21st centuries, narrative analysis and French for specific purposes and specialised lexicon.

Since 2015, she has been Director of the Language Centre of the University of Almeria and a member of its board of directors. She is also a member of AFUE (Asociación de francesistas de la universidad española) and has been a member of its board of directors for nine years. In addition, as a specialist of Le Clézio's work, she is a member of the Association des Lecteurs de Le Clézio and has participated in the Dictionnaire online about his literary works.
