Christopher Meid is currently Interim Professor for Early Modern German Literature at the University of Osnabrück and Assistant Professor at the University of Freiburg. He received his Ph.D. at the University of Freiburg in 2011 and qualified for professorship (‘Habilitation’) in 2019. From 2013 to 2015, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford, and in 2019, he taught as a visiting professor at the Shanghai International Studies University. His research interests include travel literature and the relationship between politics and literature. In addition to numerous essays, he has written books on 18th-century German drama, on German travelogues about Greece, and, most recently, on political fiction of the Enlightenment.
