Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

General Information:

  • The Editing Board accepts the following submissions for publication: theoretical studies, research works, overviews, reviews, reports from conferences or academic gatherings which are in line with the profile of the journal.
  • Theoretical, empirical and review studies shall be accompanied by an abstract in Polish and in English, and by keywords.
  • In case of a review the contributor is obliged to send a scanned cover of the reviewed book.
  • All submissions are reviewed.
  • The journal does not charge any payment for the publication of the text. This means that the author does not have to pay any costs for any of the stages of the publishing process from submission of the manuscript to publication of his/her text.
  • Contributors are not paid for the published manuscripts.
  • The Editing Board reserves the right to make amendments, the manuscript can be also sent back to the contributor with the proposals of changes (shortening, re-editing).
Manuscript Structure (Example of a manuscript edited correctly):
  • Author and Title 
  • Place the name of the contributor in the upper left corner. It should follow the template below:
  • Affiliation (University, Department)
  • FIRST AND LAST NAME
  • ORCID ID
  • email address
  • Title in Polish (font: Times New Roman, 14 pt, italics, centered)
  • Title in English (font: Times New Roman, 10 pt, centered)

Abstract and Keywords

  • The required volume of an abstract in Polish:  150–200 words.
  • The form of address in an abstract shall be impersonal; use passive voice.
  • An abstract of an empirical manuscript shall include: aim and subject of the research, research problems, information about the method and scope of research, key theses and results obtained. An abstract of a theoretical manuscript shall describe briefly the main ideas and theses presented in a manuscript.
  • Keywords listed by the contributor shall be used in the body of the manuscript (for the purposes of search algorithms used in the internet databases).
  • An abstract cannot include references to literature items, it cannot be a repetition of a part of a manuscript(s).
  • Keywords (3–5) in Polish and English
  • Font: Times New Roman, 10 pt, line spacing 1,0, justified

Body

  • Page settings: Margins:  upper – 2,5 cm, lower – 2,5 cm, left – 2,5 cm, right – 2,5 cm
  • Paragraph settings:   Line spacing:  1,5; Text alignment: justified
  • Text settings 
  • Text font:   Times New Roman, 12 pt, justified
  • Subheadings: Font Times New Roman, 12 pt, all caps, centered, no numbering
  • Use nod bolds (table data can be bold in justified cases), use italics to mark the text out.

Drawings, charts, diagrams

  • All drawings, charts, diagrams, etc. have to be in gray scale. The Editing Board reserves the right to convert graphics in color to grayscale, which may decrease their quality.
  • The number and description of a drawing shall be written under the drawing with the reference to the source (font: Times New Roman, 10 pt, alignment to the left).
  • If the contributor of the manuscript is the author of the image, diagram or chart, include the following information under the description:  Źródło: opracowanie własne.

Example:

Picture 1. Liczba muzyków posiadających tzw. portfolio career w porównaniu z liczba muzyków posiadających jedną pracę w latach 1979-1995

Origin: Mills, Smith, 2006 s. 137.

Tables 

  • Tables shall fit within the margins. Table font: Times New Roman, 10 pt, alignment to the left. 
  • Table style: straight (grid)
  • Tables shall be numbered. The number and title of the table shall be placed above the table (font: Times New Roman, 10 pt, alignment to the left). 
Example:
  • Table 1. Zależności pomiędzy poczuciem własnej skuteczności badanych pedagogów a odczuwanym przez nich stresem
  • Indicate the source under the table. If the contributor of the manuscript is the author of the table, include the following information under the table:  Origin: opracowanie własne.

References to literature in the text

  • Citations shall be entered in quotation marks.
  • The following footnote standards apply:
  • Only the contributor’s footnotes are numbered and entered at the bottom of a page.
  • Include literature footnotes directly in the body of the manuscript and they include the name of the author and the publication year of the work (Nowak, 2000) and, if the direct citation is entered, add a page number, e.g.: (Nowacki, 2000, s. 5).
  • If two works of the same author are referenced, indicate them as follows: (Nowacki, 2000a; Nowacki, 2000b), in line with the order of the literature cited.
  • If the work cited has two authors, include both names each time you refer to that work (Nowak, Kowalski, 2005). In case there are more than two authors, list names of all authors when you mention the work for the first time (Nowak, Kowalski, Igrekowski, 2007), and further references shall include only the first name and “i in.”, e.g.: (Nowak i in., 2007).

Literature

  • Literature shall be created in accordance with the APA style guidelines.
  • The literature items shall be listed in alphabetical order below the manuscript.
  • The list shall not be numbered, font: Times New Roman, 12 pt.
  • If the literature item has a DOI number, add it directly to that item.
  • If there are references to internet sources, add a name and initials of the author, publication year (if it is known), title, detailed web address on the internet, access date.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal. Additionally, you have ready to attach with your article signed percentage of author`s work declaration.

    Dear Author, here you will find a hint how to properly upload your article.
  7. In addition to the article, I enclose the Statement (Polish version or English version for Authors with foreign affiliation) which includes the information on the Author/Authors (academic degree/title, affiliation, contact details) along with clause confirming the originality of the text and confirmation of transferring the author's economic rights to the article to the Publisher. I commit to post a signed paper version of the statement to the Editorial Board (to the address: Instytut Pedagogiki UMCS, Redakcja Annales J, ul. Narutowicza 12, 20-004 Lublin, dr hab. Joanna Wierzejska) or its scan to the email address of the Editorial Board (annalesj@wp.pl) within 14 days from submission of the text.
