Peer Review Process

  1. The editorial office accepts solely articles sent via the journal's internet platform: https://journals.umcs.pl/j . The entire review process takes place through the platform.
  2. First, a manuscript undergoes editorial review. If it does not meet the Editor’s criteria, it is rejected, and the Authors are informed about this fact by e-mail. If the manuscript meets the Editor’s requirements, it is checked for plagiarism using iThenticate software. After positive verification, the Editorial Office sends the article out for scientific review.
  1. Manuscripts are double-blind reviewed by two independent Reviewers appointed by the Editorial Office. The Reviewers are experts in the area addressed by the manuscript and come from institutions other than the author's research institution .
  1. Reviewers provide their feedback by filling in a review form which concludes with a recommendation to accept, revise, re-review, or reject the manuscript or submit it to another journal. The review form also provides space for additional comments on the manuscript.
  2. A publication which has received two negative reviews is rejected. If conflicting reviews are given, the manuscript is sent to a third, independent reviewer, a member of the Scientific Committee, in order to obtain an additional opinion to break the tie, or a collective decision is made by the Editorial Team.
  3. Reviews, along with comments from the Editor, are sent to the Author with a request to consider the Reviewers' suggestions and send the revised manuscript back within a specified deadline.
  4. Once the final version of the manuscript has been sent in, the Editorial Office decides whether to accept it for publication, return it for further revision or reject it. Before making the final decision, the Editorial Office may seek an additional opinion of a Member of the Scientific Committee specialising in the given area.
  5. The list of reviewers is published on the journal's website at the end of the year.
