Marta Kania graduated in Archeology and Cultural Studies at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Ph.D. in Humanities from the Faculty of History at the Jagiellonian University. Adjunct in the Latin American Department of the Institute of American Studies and the Polish Diaspora at the Jagiellonian University. Her research focuses on ethnopolitics in Latin America, the relationships between archeology and politics, the protection and safeguarding of the cultural heritage of indigenous peoples, as well as the issues of cultural rights in Latin America. Author of books: „Pre-Columbian image of Peru. The role of archeology and Inca heritage in the formation of Peruvian national identity” (Kraków 2010); „Machu Picchu. Between Archeology and Politics” (Kraków 2013).
