Amazigh Literature: from Space Edifying Language to Language Edifying Space

Abstract


In this work, our attention is focused on the study of spatiality in Amazigh oral and written literature. To this end, it would be relevant to analyze first the spatial dimension in the Amazigh tale. In this sense, we show that the tale as a linguistic experience participates in the processes of conceptualization and metaphorical definition of the spatial experience of the Amazigh man. We refer to the application of cognitive grammar to the domain of narrative oral performance as these occur outside of geographical space. Secondly, we examine the spatial reference in Rif’s poetry, trying to reflect on the space that emerges from their lyrical performances. Finally, we turn to the written literature, which is referential in nature insofar as geographical space is evident. This is why we have judged geocriticism to be the most relevant approach for extracting from texts the interaction between the Amazigh man and his space.
