Focus and Scope
Annales UMCS sec. F publishes papers that describe research results of historians from Middle Ages to the modern Times. Political history is a dominant field of study of the journal, but social history, microhistory in Poland and abroad are also important issues.

Peer Review Process
- Articles are subjected for peer review after preliminary evaluation and acceptance by the editorial team of the journal.
- Two independent reviewers from outside of the faculty employing the Author with a degree of at least an assistant-professor (doktor habilitowany) are being appointed.
- The review is a double-blind process, which means that the author and reviewer do not know their identities.
- The review should be done in the panel form of the journal. It must end with a conclusion whether an article should be published or rejected.
- Names of reviewers are not disclosed. Annales UMCS, sec. F publishes the names of its reviewers.

The current ethical principles in the academic journal Annales Universitatis Mariae Curie-Skłodowska, sectio F – History
Taking care of a high quality of the publication and the scientific integrity, the editorial office of the scientific journal „Annales UMCS sec. F” postulates the requiring the application of the moral principles specified below. The principles are for authors of the scientific publications,the editors,the reviewers,as well as the members of the Editorial Office.
The authors
The person who provides the creative contribution in the concept of the work, the realisation of a research and the interpretation of obtained results, is identified as an author of a work. The person who sends a research paper is obliged to forward the information about all of the authors including defining their contribution to the creation of the paper.
The appropriate form can be found on the website of the journal. The author should give the information about funding sources of the publication and the contribution of the scientific – research institutions, associations and other operations which may impast the result of the research given in a paper.
Both plagiarism and autoplagiarism are considered to be illegal practices. The articles which are sent to „Annales UMCS sec. F” can be solely and exclusively original texts which do not infringe Rother persons` copyright and have not been either Publisher Or sent to print in Rother magazine. The articles related to the submission of a text being translated into another language of the publication which was already published are considered unethical. No activities related to ghost writing and guest authorship are allowed as they are manifestation of scientific dishonesty. By ghostwriting is meant a situation in which a given person who makes a significant contribution to the creation of a text, was not indicated as one of the authors or a person whose role was not mentioned in the listings included in the publication.
By guest authorship is meant a situation in which a given person who does not make any contribution to the creation of a text and was indicated as an author of the publication.
Revealing any of the situations will cause rejecting of a text.
Editorial Office
The editor-in- chief is responsible for decisions about publishing articles and choosing which articles should be edited. The conclusions of reviews , secretary`s opinion and The Scientific Board should be taken into account. The editor-in-chief rejects an article in case of plagiarism or autoplagiarism. In case of any doubts about authorship or co-authorship of an article. The author`s background, his nationality, religion, sex , sexual orientation or political views are not taken into account while making decisions about accepting or rejecting a text.
The editorial Office does not reveal the author`s data to the reviewers or the reviewers` data to the authors. The editorial office does not designate as reviewers a person who is employed in the same institution as an author or if an author and a reviewer are in any relationship.
The Reviewer
A review should be objective and in a dispute with an author Orly scientific arguments should be used, expressed in a clear and understandable way. Personal criticism is unacceptable.
The revied scientific works are confidential, they cannot be given or shown to other people. It is also inappropriate to discuss about them aside from The Editorial Office or Scientific Board.
All reviews are anonymus. The reviewers are obliged to resign from writing the review in case of any conflicts caused by relationship with the author or an institution represented by the author.
The reviewer should inform the editorial office about any cases of infringements of ethical standards by the author of an article.
The reviewer, who can not review the scientific work in a given period of time should inform the editorial office and resign from the function of the reviewer as soon as possible.
The ethical principles were developed and based on the recommendations of COPE Committee on Publication Ethics included in Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
